You don't need to have any experience with horses to volunteer at the farm, but even if you do we ask that everyone attend a Volunteer Orientation. You will get to meet the team and the horses, learn more about what we do and how we do it, and get an overall welcome to Our Heroes!
After you have completed the Volunteer Orientation, if you are interested in our therapeutic programs, you can attend the Therapeutic Volunteer Orientation and then volunteer with our therapeutic program!
WE HAVE AND URGENT NEED FOR VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WITH EVENTS, INCLUDING OUR CAMPS AND FARMERS MARKETS! PLEASE CONTACT CAROLYN@OURHEROESINC.ORG IF YOU CAN HELP OUT!
No matter your level of ability or how much experience with horses you have (or don't have!) there is always something to help with at the farm:
● Farm Help ● Gardening & Landscaping ● Crafting ● Office Help ● Event Planning ● Fundraising ● And so much more!
Volunteering with us is a great way to experience farm life first hand. There is something special about working with horses, experiencing teamwork on a farm, and spending time in a natural environment. Many of our volunteers say working with us is therapeutic, even if they aren't involved in a therapeutic riding program!
Our Heroes is privileged to work with exceptional equestrians, some who need helping hands to enjoy their equestrian experience, some who need a little extra instruction, and some who ride all by themselves! Our therapeutic program director, Allie Sabo, goes into detail about how therapeutic volunteers assist us during the Therapeutic Volunteer Training. Once you complete the therapeutic volunteer training, you will be qualified to assist during therapeutic riding lessons and other activities!
